Pine Barrens in winter Barry Caselli
  January 05, 2009

Here is a photo I took of the woods behind our house around Christmas of 1989. The view hasn't changed except that the small trees in the foreground are much taller. Also the tall pine that is nearly in the center of the picture died and broke off several years ago.

This is a Pitch Pine/Scrub Oak forest, and it burned in a big forest fire in 1976. I have only lived in the Pine Barrens since 1985, so never witnessed the fire.

I thought the members of the group would enjoy seeing something from where I live, and with snow on the ground, since it is winter now.

Take care,
Barry
