Scarlet oak on Alexander Creek, Oconee County, South Carolina. 9'6" cbh and 119.9' tall.
Pignut hickory near Tamassee Knob, Oconee County, South Carolina. 9'7.5" cbh and 149.0 tall. The tree has a long spread of 86' and a generally voluminous crown; consequently, the tree is probably still growing rapidly.
Sweetgum near Tamassee Knob, Oconee County, South Carolina. 5'7" cbh and 150.0' tall. Not the best photograph, but note the compact crown of small branches that contrasts with the open, heavy limbed crowns of tall members of the species that grow in Congaree National Park.
Tuliptree near Tamassee Knob, Oconee County, South Carolina. 9'4" cbh and 172.5' tall. This tree is the tallest known tree in South Carolina and the tallest known hardwood in the east outside of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
